Dance practitioner shares

A workshop at Toft Hill Primary School was documented to showcase the children’s creative dance. Beth explored local songs from the region and how narrative dance enables children’s ideas to be captured and explored.

Bishop Auckland Schools British festival

This years festival and workshop programme for the Bishop Auckland Schools Cluster area will be focusing on British Values looking back at Britain’s Folk History.

Please click on the links provided to make your booking and be introduced to your practitioners.

Theme:           Britain’s Folk History

Through storytelling, dance, song and photography pupils will learn about Folk cultural life in Britain

Key area of study: British values

Project members: 10 -15 primary schools and possibly two nursery schools in the Bishop Auckland area. The aim is for each school to have two and a half days of cultural activities/ workshops during May and June 2015 to explore Britain’s folk history then come together for a sharing event in June at Auckland Castle . The project is for years 3-4 pupils (7-9 year olds) in the Bishop Auckland area, County Durham, North East of England. (Please note two nurseries and one infant school who will probably choose a day of activities as they like to make links.)

Plan: All practitioners are very experienced and have the appropriate references in place. Each school has two and a half days contact time and then a half day sharing event. Working collaboratively enables practitioners to provide competitive rates for their work and all contracting and co-ordination and liaison with the schools will be carried out by a project officer.

Project management

  1. One reference address and telephone number from a school or educational organisation has been provided and followed up.

  1. Confirmation of CRB check, ID number, date, named organisation.

  1. Brief description of a full day workshop and a half day workshop in a schools provided.

-Number of young people you can work with/ classes

-set up required e.g. space, power, water, equipment

-example of how practitioners will explore the theme in their workshop and what they can  bring to this project.

  1. Project co-ordnation, contracts and management of the event from skilled officers who have extensive knowledge and experience of working in the area.
  2. Provide an online resource with up to date schedules, workshop set up requirements, booking forms and evaluation material.

Last years project was a great success.
